Real Madrid to lure Rafa the Red?
According to reports in The Sun, it is believed that the Los Blancos are planning to offer Rafa Benitez the reins to their club next season.
This comes in the light of the fact that the Anfield boss has rejected the latest offer that his bosses proposed. It has been widely reported that this offer was shunned for reasons other than monetary gain, which puts things in a very different perspective regarding contract negotiations. Currently, the board and the manager have locked horns in a battle that sees the manager wanting autonomy regarding the transfers, with the board opting otherwise.
It is to be noted that Benitez is a local man at Madrid and has made almost 250 appearances for the Real Madrid reserve team. He has also held various managerial posts for ten years in the club before moving onto coaching senior teams.
This still remains as a speculation since the former Valencia boss has spoken of a long-term commitment to the Reds. But if a contract does not materialise by the end of the season, it could signal the end of the Benitez era.
Ex-Lilywhites boss Juande Ramos is currently at the forefront of the Bernabeu outfit, but his contract runs only till the end of this season. It will not be a surprise to see the Spaniard take charge of Los Merengues, should the saga of the crippled contract reach an unsavoury ending.

Will Real give him the autonomy that he has been demanding at Liverpool?
I’m not quite sure.
Benitez has eighteen months left on his current deal. Real could make an offer but it would depend on how well Ramos performs in his term at the Bernabeu
Real may not necessarily give him what he wants, but they do have negotiate their contracts well, unlike the Reds. Look at the Agger contract, for example. All that the owners have done is to prolong it and turn it into a media frenzy although the player clearly has Anfield in his long term plans.
Anyway, Benitez has been linked with his hometown for the past 4 years, and nothing may come of this rumour. In any case, it does sound interesting…
Real have hired and fired a lot of managers over the last few years.
Benitez may take it up as a challenge, but it might not be the right place for stability.
This may not necessarily come to anything, as the owners appear set to sell the club to a billionaire from Kuwait. Lets hope a good clean transition takes place, so as to give Rafa the transfer market comfort that he needs.
