Arsenal deliver ultimatum to Zenit

14-andrei-arshavinReports on the Daily Express claim that the Gunners have given Zenit St Petersburg an ultimatum regarding the proposed transfer of Andrei Arshavin.

The interest shown by the club from North London in the Russian star has never been a secret. With recent rumours linking the star to Eastlands being quashed due to the UEFA Cup winners saying that they are not conducting business with another club, it was expected that both parties wanted the deal to reach fruition.

However, the English club seem to be firmly set on bringing the player to the Emirates for a price of £12 million, as they are reported to have informed their counterparts to either take it or leave it. It is said that Zenit have time until the 26th of this month to make up their minds as to whether they would like to cash in on their talented player.

Maxim Mitrofanov, the director of the Russian heavyweights has spoken of the affair saying that while the club is still willing to negotiate, Arsenal should be willing to take a step forward towards reaching an amicable agreement too.

The Russians continue to hold out claiming that their £20 million valuation of the player be met. Nevertheless, rumours continue to emanate that the player will be sold for much less than the aforementioned price.
