Transfer window to be transferred?

20-poundReports on The Daily Mail state that the delegates at the Premier League meeting to be held next week will be discussing the possibility of scrapping the January transfer window permanently, owing to the bad blood that has been caused due to many managers using varied tactics to unsettle players at their respective camps, causing unrest at the club to eventually result in a transfer.

It is believed that this is precisely how Shay Given was targeted, and will in all probability leave Tyneside to join the Citizens. For those who have not followed the saga of Eastlands chasing after the Irish keeper, recent reports stated that the wall between the posts has demanded to be sold to the Light Blues. This is coming from a player whose loyalty to the Magpies was beyond question for over ten years.

Liverpool are apparently unhappy over the unsettling comments made by Harry Redknapp in a bid to unsettle their striker, Robbie Keane. It is believed that they are contemplating over whether the incident should be reported to higher authorities.

Apart from the two cases in point, there have been innumerable instances where a perfectly happy player has suddenly requested to be sold, or has started to feel discontented at his club due to the antics created by other clubs and managers.

As this insecure feeling among players and managers is beginning to escalate and take its toll on the pitch, a move back to the year round transfer appears to be in the offing.

If the English clubs decide to dispose of the current system, it will undoubtedly come under heavy criticism from UEFA, since they will be deviating from the current process, which is followed by football clubs all over Europe.

Unsettling comments can be made at any time of the year.

We always see gossip everywhere- X will move here in the summer, Y is a target for Z in the winter.

That won’t stop even if they decide to close the window.

The gossip will continue, but the transfers and bad mouthing of managers for their not so ethical dealings will come to an end. If a player is to be targeted, they will do it in the appropriate way by contacting the concerned club, instead the present way of appreciating the player through the media, contacting the agent next, and then the club. This process needs reversal, otherwise the Premier League bubble of greatness may just burst…
