Chelsea back in title race? Also Villa beat Spurs.

Chelsea boss, Guus Hiddink proudly proclaimed that the blues were back in contention for the Premiership title after they displayed a clean win over Manchester City 1-0. Playing only his second match after an injury lay off, Michael Essien scored the lone goal of the match via his shin with the help of Lampard’s free kick. The London club are now second in the table and level points with Liverpool.

Throughout the match, Didier Drogba looked threatening but couldn’t convert. With this win, Hiddink maintained his unbeaten record. On the other side of the map, Aston Villa faced booing fans and an unstoppable and lucky Tottenham Hotspurs side. A hard fought match by the Spurs came as a shocker to the Villa side who’ve had a safe fifth spot in the Premiership table.

Villa showed their dominance in the first half despite the Spurs scoring in the 5th minute. An entertaining first half ended in 0-1 for the Spurs but they came soon back with a 50th minute goal as soon as the second half began. To save some grace for the home side, Villa scored through Carew in the 85th minute. The home crowd was very disappointed with their team and booed them all along especially after the second goal against them. Villa boss Martin O’Neill later expressed that he was very unhappy with the home crowd being them and he expected their support.
