Wayne Rooney gets a one match ban slapped on!
Wayne Rooney will miss the Manchester United encounter with Aston Villa in April as he was given a one match ban for his red card against Fulham on Saturday. Rooney was sent off for two offences and he allegedly punched the side flag while leaving the pitch. But officials confirmed that the star striker will not face any more penalty as he didn’t swear and this ban is all the Reds will have to handle.
Aston Villa will be travelling to Old Trafford on April 5th and the current Premier League leaders are sure to miss their striker when the Villa boys come calling.
Meanwhile, third placed, Chelsea have their own problems as well. To add to their woes of losing to Tottenham Hotspurs on Saturday, Nicolas Anelka might be sitting out for three weeks because of a toe injury. He suffered the injury while playing against the Spurs but played out the match. He was checked for the world cup qualifying squad for France and ruled out for Lithuania. The striker is expected to miss out his club side’s crucial matches against Newcastle and Liverpool in April. Anelka is currently the leading goal scorer in the Premier League and the Blues will miss him terribly.
