United and Liverpool Party Late!

It was an exciting round of games, as both teams that are vying for the title scored late and sealed their respective games.
Liverpool travelled to face Fulham at Craven Cottage, knowing that the club that they were up against had beaten the league leaders recently. That apart, Arsenal had lost their fixture against the Cottagers, while Chelsea had drawn against them. The game started off the way it should have, and the Reds dominated the first half whilst creating enough chances to win three games, but the end result of a goal had not yet arrived. The woodwork had denied them on four occasions, and as the game drifted towards full time, it appeared as though Rafa Benitez would be the latest casualty at the hands of the oldest professional team in London. But a Benayoun shot deep into injury time assured the visitors of all three points, giving them a well deserved victory.
Elsewhere in the red half of Manchester, United were made to sweat as their opponents made this game an evening to remember. Ronaldo scored early on to send Old Trafford into that familiar atmosphere, but Villa held their nerve and threatened on several occasions as Agbonlahor and Young tested the defensive capabilities of their opponents time and time again. The pressure finally gave way to a goal in which Carew got his name onto the score sheet, and theVillans were back into the game. The bullish Agbonlahor managed to score in the second half and shock fans at Old Trafford as he competently headed one past Van der Sar. Sir Alex then gambled on a substitution and brought on a 17-year-old Macheda, and the player somehow managed to breathe life into a team that was looking at its third consecutive defeat in the league. Ronaldo scored in the 80th minute and put the game back on terms, but the drama was not yet over. With the game all set to end in a stalemate, Macheda gave the fans a new song to chant when he scored well into stoppage time. From here on, there was no coming back for the visitors, since there was very little time left for them to respond appropriately.
This win sends United back onto the top of the table with a game in hand.
