Both English teams that played on the second day of the quarter-finals emerged triumphant, and will face off with each other for an opportunity to play at Stadio Olimpico, the home of Roma and Lazio.

An early scorcher by Ronaldo was the only goal of the game, which saw the visitors dominate the early stages of the proceedings. Porto pressured their opponents slowly and grew into the game, but the Vidic-Ferdinand combination was proving to be a little too much for the Dragons. Losing Lucio to injury during the game, combined with the coach being banned from the sidelines left one wondering about what could have been, had the two people in question had been able to fully participate in the proceedings.

The Gunners had a good day at the office, as they hammered their Spanish opponents by three goals to announce their entry into the semi-finals in an emphatic fashion. Walcott scored early through a chip past Lopez, which was a deserving finish to the sublime touch by Fabregas that created the opportunity. The Yellow Submarine clawed its way back into the game, but just as they were looking a little threatening, the Emirates went into a roar as Adebayor easily finished a pass from Van Persie to double the lead. Less than ten minutes after this, a third goal came in the form of a penalty that the Dutch forward finished in style. From here on, Arsenal played with supreme confidence and finished the game without conceding any goals.

Old Trafford is the venue, as the two victors will cross swords in an all English semi-final, which assures fans that at least one team from the Premier League will go all the way to Rome.
