Everton dump Manchester United

Manchester United were denied of a final date with Chelsea in the FA Cup final as Everton won an exciting penalty shoot 4-2. Playing at Wembley, the reds were going for a fifth title shot when the match ended in a goalless encounter. Man U boss was left annoyed at the Referee Mike Riley and the Toffees couldn’t be more excited.

Riley had denied the Manchester side of a clear penalty as defender Phil Jagielka bumped and got down Danny Welbeck in the second half. They then succumbed under pressure as Everton played out fantastic penalties and rode on a classic display by keeper Tim Howard. While Tim Cahill missed the first penalty for Everton, Howard saved the first two from the Red’s Dmitry Berbatov and Rio Ferdinand. Leighton Baines, Phil Neville and James Vaughan then scored for Everton to put them in lead. For Manchester United, Nemanja Vidic and Anderson were the two scorers.

Phil Jagielka sent in the final goal to take the match for Everton who showed some emotional moments after this win. Both sides had their moments but the closest was seen when the Merseyside team when Cahill sent in the ball reeling from 25 yards only to be stopped fabulously by keeper Forster in the opening minutes of the match. Man United were fielding a very new look side with Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo and Edwin Van Der Sar out of the game.
