Manchester United’s chances in the Champions League 2009

The red devils have come a long way from losing their team in the crash of 1960. Manchester United have now become the most feared team in Europe by winning 3 titles last season alone. They won the champions league last season by beating Chelsea in penalties after Terry missed a crucial penalty.

Manchester united have secured their place in champion’s league history by playing two consecutive years in the champions league finals. If Manchester United win the champions this season, they will become the first team in the history of the champions league to win the champions league back to back. The final match is between Manchester United and their rivals from Spain ,Barcelona, against whom they played last season in the champion’s league to enter the finals. Manchester United have shown that they have the potential to beat any club, this has been tested by both Porto and Arsenal who have failed to stop the European juggernauts. Barcelona are also in good shape with star players like Messi, Thierry Henry, Valdes and many more. Barcelona won against Chelsea due to the away goal rule, they scored in the 93rd minute due to a weak defense posed by Chelsea, and the goal saw the hopes of Chelsea crumble as they had failed to secure a position in the champion’s league finals.

Manchester United have to play without one of their starring players Fletcher who was given a red card during the match against Arsenal, their star defender Ferdinand will be playing but he will not be at his best due to an injury he suffered two weeks back. Besides these players Berbatrov will most likely be a substitute player, most fans feel that J.S.Park will be playing because of his contribution in the match against arsenal.

Barcelona have all their star players intact for the finals. Henry might be a little weak because of his injury last week.

Most people feel that Manchester United will win the Champion’s league title this year because the Spanish giants have not been playing to their full potential in the champion’s league. The outcome of this match can only be determined in a few weeks’ time.
