March Of The Managers

It is that time of the year when managers have been weighed by the output of their wards, and the ones that did not perform are given the pivotal push through the doorway, and out onto the high road. This brings us to the point where we will observe the battle hardened conquistadors take to the helm of those clubs that have not got their share of the loot this season.
After Guus Hiddink left Chelsea following the end of the season, the Pensioners have confirmed the rumours that have been haunting the Serie A through the second half of this season by unveiling former AC Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti as the man with the plan. It will be interesting to see how he copes with his first assignment outside the peninsula, since the Italian has never managed a club outside his home country.
Sunderland are on the hunt for a manager to lead them to dizzying heights in the next few seasons following the recent takeover. Steve Bruce and Roberto Mancini appear to be leading the race at this point, with the Latics’ manager being pipped for the position. It is believed that £3 million will be paid as compensation to Wigan Athletic, in order to secure the services of Englishman.
The latest story coming out of the rumour mill is that former Mexico manager Sven Goran Eriksson, who is believed to be heading towards a managerial post at Sporting Lisbon, may be swayed by Portsmouth as they appear to be in need of someone in the upper echelon of the club.
