Fulham To Snipe Peter Crouch?
Recent reports indicated that Sunderland and Portsmouth had agreed on a fee for the Peter Crouch, and that the lanky forward had held talks with the prospective buyers to sort out a contract.
However, there has been no official news concerning the move, which could mean that Fulham have an outside chance at securing the signature of the Pompey striker. The Cottagers’ boss Roy Hodgson has indicated that the club is interested in Crouch.
“Crouch is a player we`re interested in but so are others,” Hodgson is quoted on The Sun as saying.
Steve Bruce, the 61-year-old’s counterpart at Sunderland, has expressed hope that the club could lure ‘Crouchy’ into putting pen to paper and sealing the deal with the Mackems.
“We hope we can put something together, as he would be the type of player that would signal the way we want to take the club forward,” said Bruce.
This could potentially prove to be a bidding war, as the northern club is certainly not ‘Short’ of the millions, while the promise of playing under the guidance of Roy Hodgson could be just as enticing, since the Fulham boss is credited with rescuing the club from the jaws of relegation during the 2007-08 season, and finishing in a very respectable seventh place last season.
