Football Betting Tips And The Best Bets For The Forthcoming Premiership Season

barclays-premier-leagueThere is just a month to go until the Premiership returns to our screens and whilst we try and work out how to subscribe to ESPN to watch the games that were supposed to be on Setanta we can have a look at the best betting opportunities for the coming season.

Man Utd minus Ronaldo are the favourites to lift the Premiership title once again and they can be backed at 15/8 with some bookies so you are looking at a return of just under three times your stake. Chelsea are next best at a general 9/4 which means a return of just over three times your stake and Liverpool are possibly the best bet at around 3/1.

None of the above have really improved their sides so far this summer and one team who is hard at work bringing in improvements are Man City, who seem determined to buy every striker in the world so that no other clubs can score goals anymore. This time last year Man City were 500/1 for the Premiership title, now they are as short as 14/1 for the forthcoming Premiership season. Has the world gone mad? Best to check out the various odds comparison sites before making a decision!

At the other end of the table it looks as though the three promoted sides are up against it, Burnley, Birmingham and Wolves are all amongst the favourites to go straight back down. Last season’s lucky survivors Hull are going to find things very tough as well and they too are amongst the favourites but the best bet is perhaps Wigan, who have lost a good manager and their three best players (Heskey, Palacios and Valencia) since January and 4/1 on them to go down is a very nice price.

One of the best ante post betting markets is always the Premiership Golden Boot market. The current favourite now that Ronaldo has moved on is unsurprisingly Fernando Torres who is 4/1 with most bookies. The increasingly unpredictable Didier Drogba is next best at around 8/1 yet last year’s winner, Drogba’s strike partner Nicolas Anelka, is 12/1 and looks a better bet.

Michael Owen has been backed from 40/1 to 20/1 since moving to Manchester United and if striker puts his horse racing interests to one side and concentrates on his football he might not be too bad a bet , and if you believe what all of the Football Betting Tips websites tell you , its certainly worth a shot!
