Your predictions for Liverpool in the Premier League this season?

The new Premier League season is less than a week away, and Liverpool’s pre-season form has unfortunately been nothing to crow about. This is how our pre-season friendlies went.

Liverpool 2009-10 pre-season friendlies results

Drew 0-0 with St.Gallen

Lost 0-1 to Rapid Vienna

Drew 1-1 with the Thailand National Football Team.

Beat the Singapore National Football Team 5-0.

Lost 0-3 to Espanyol.

Beat Lyn Oslo 2-0.

Lost 2-1 to Atletico Madrid.

Summary :-  Lost three, won three, drew two.

I wouldn’t normally read too much into these results, but the unfortunate fact is that we have the worst pre-season record this season among the “Big Four” ( I might have to make that term Big Five soon, with Sparky splashing out the cash left and right )

We have also sold Xabi Alonso and Alvaro Arbeloa to Real Madrid for a combined fee of £33. 5m ( £30m for Xabi, and £3.5m for Arbeloa)

The only two major signings we’ve made so far are Glen Johnson ( £17m- from Pompey), and Alberto Aquilani ( £20m- from AS Roma). Unfortunately, Aquilani will not be playing for atleast two months as he is still recovering from the ankle surgery he had in May.

Jamie Carragher was injured against  Atletico, and that has led to the press linking us with a move for Hull’s Michael Turner.

Considering all this, we don’t seem to in the greatest of shape going into our season opener against Spurs ( who handed us our first defeat in last season’s Premier League as most of you would be already aware)

What is your league prediction for Liverpool this season? Challengers for the title, runners up like last season, or a slip out of the top four?
