Chelsea 2-1 Hull City Highlights – August 15 – Drogba Brace Saves Blues Blushes

Carlo Ancelotti was in his first competitive game at Stamford Bridge, while Hull City began their sophomore season against the team that has been the bookies’ choice to win the Premier League this season.

The early stages were heavily dominated by Chelsea, but the Tigers took a shock lead against the run of play a little before a third of the game was completed. It was shocking and a real pain to the Pensioners’ fans, as it was Stephen Hunt – responsible for Petr Cech’s headgear – who poached the goal on his debut for Hull.

But it was not long before Didier Drogba brought things level, when he scored off a free kick whose flight reminded one of the way Cristiano Ronaldo’s kicks travel.

The Tigers’ defence was doing a pretty good job considering the fact that it was their first competitive game of the season, and more so because it was against a daunting opposition. The defences held for a long time, but gave way when a misguided cross by Drogba went into the back of the net.

All in all, it got the Blues off to a good start, and ‘Carletto’ would have gone back a happy manager.
