Wigan v Wolverhampton 0-1 Wolves get amongst the points

The Wolves displayed some fighting football to get some points against their names in their second match of the Premier League here last night. Andy Keogh’s early header was the only goal of the match after which the Wolves managed to hold Wigan Athletic defensively.

It was an early sixth minute strike which got the pressure going for the hosts there on. Charles N’Zogbia had a great chance soon thereafter to equalise but managed to kick it in the laps of the goalie. Wigan, who were fresh from their emphatic victory over Aston Villa as Villa Park were the favourites to win this match, but the Wolves proved that they aren’t to be taken lightly in the Premiership.

It was only during the second half that Wigan started putting up an aggressive strategy and came close to equalising. Hugo Rodallega hit a free kick straight into Hennessey after a foul by Jason Koumas. This was the only true chance Wigan had to draw the match and create an opening for themselves. Wolves who didn’t win a single match in their last premier ship outing will be very happy with this performance.
