Jones puts Sunderland in command v Rovers!

A hard fought battle was witnessed at Sunderland as the hosts came from a goal down to beat Blackburn Rovers 2-1. Striker Kenwyne Jones was the star for Sunderland as he struck twice to seal the match for is team. Gael Givet had the score board ticking as he scored an 18 yard shot and put the Rovers in lead in the 21st minute. Just 11 minutes later, Jones beat Paul Robinson at the post and scored the eqauliser for his team.

The Black Caps kept the pressure at 1-1 till half time but Jones scored off a header in the 53rd minute to clinch the match for Sunderland. The Rovers were depleted by injuries to captain Ryan Nelsen and striker Franco Di Santo who had to go off during the game in the middle. Both teams struggled to consolidate in the second half but none scored after the score read 2-1. Sunderland seemed to have learnt their lessons of not giving away a match after a fantastic half as they did against Chelsea and controlled the match better this time after leading.
