Few football matches are more exciting, enthralling and passionate than the Derby della Madonnina. When two of the powerhouses of Italian football meet it is rarely a dull affair and this weekend’s match promises to really kick start the season.

After a disappointing 1 – 1 draw at home to Bari on the opening weekend, Inter will be looking to bounce back in style and achieve a victory over their closest rivals; Mourinho is expected to tinker with his squad in an attempt to prevent another farcical performance like the one against the Biancorossi. A defensive overhaul is expected however ‘The Special One’ will have to do without defensive midfielder Esteban Cambiasso and Marko Arnautovic as both are still recovering from their respective injuries.

For Leonardo the season started off with a 1 – 2 win away at Siena and to Brazilian will be hoping that his side continues their form on Saturday. The emphasis will be on playmaker Ronaldinho who has the burden of replacing the departed Kaka firmly on his shoulders, however Thiago Silva believes it is a burden that the 29 year old is more than capable of handling.

The Derby promises to be an riveting affair and, despite Massimo Moratti’s downplaying of the game, the winner will gain a massive psychological boost in just the second week of the Italian season.
