Roma – Juventus Preview
Somewhat overshadowed by the Milan Derby is the game between Juventus and Roma. While it won’t be as universally appreciated as the match at the San Siro it promises to be gripping and important nonetheless; not least because both teams fancy themselves to mount a serious title challenge this season.
The big news ahead of the game is that it will be the first real test for playmaker Diego to assert his authority on the Italian league. The 24 year old, formerly of Werder Bremen is expected to add some Brazilian class to a Juventus side that is focused on heavily reinventing itself following the appointment of rookie coach Ciro Ferrera in the summer.
“The game against Roma will be like a final and our objective is to go there to win the game” Diego said.
Roma, who suffered a surprise defeat in their opening game against Genoa, will be hoping to bounce back quickly and resume their outside chance of challenging for the scudetto. Luciano Spalletti’s side will be boosted by the news that Francesco Totti will be fit to face The Old Lady however the odds seem to be stacked against Roma as they aim for their first League title since 2001.
