Stoke jumped to fourth spot in the Premier League table as they defeated Sunderland 1-0 at home. At the start of the season, they were being looked down upon as one of those who will sit in the relegation zone. But they are proving themselves better than expected.

It was Dave Kitson’s strike in the first half that was the lone goal in the match. It was the hosts who had many other chances also and most of the ball dominance while Sunderland were restricted to mere defending. Sunderland had a half chance when Darren Bent managed to make it within 20 yards but his trick was soon foiled.

The second half was more of Stoke creating the chances and Sunderland stopping them. Sunderland had gone into the match with 6 points from 3 matches and were touted as the favorites to win. But Stoke got the better off them and came up tops.
