Manchester City 4-2 Arsenal: Gunners Gunned Down In Manchester

Manchester City were up against the first of the ‘Big Four’ since their splash on the transfer market, and the Eastlands club came out of the encounter with flying colours.
Arsenal goalkeeper Manuel Almunia bled his side when he made a mistake that saw him being marked down as the scorer, but for all the wrong reasons, as he had given the lead to the Citizens.
With a little over 20 minutes to go, Robin van Persie pulled the game level with a well timed shot that found its way past the ‘keeper and into the bottom corner.
A little over ten minutes later, Craig Bellamy restored the lead, and Emmanuel Adebayor added to it with a good header and followed it up with a celebration that may have left the fans of the north London club with bloodthirsty thoughts concerning their former striker.
Shaun Wright-Phillips then added a fourth to make the score-line look insulting to a club that has boasted of a top four finish for some time now.
Tomas Rosicky marked his return from injury with a goal late on, but it all came too little too late as the visitors were well on their way to going home empty handed from Manchester yet again.
When the proceedings were brought to a halt, the roar was loud and clear in the City of Manchester Stadium, where the hosts maintained their fourth win in as many games this season.
Meanwhile, there has been some controversy after the match, as the visiting side accused Adebayor of being unsportsmanlike, and hinted that the former Gunner had intentionally caused physical harm to van Persie, who was left with a bloody face following a challenge.
