Arsenal thrashed Wigan Athletic 4-0 at the Emirates Stadium following heartbreaking losses against the two Manchester based clubs.

Thomas Vermaelen struck the first blow in the 24th minute and opened the scoring with a glancing header from a corner. He struck again right after the game restarted by scoring a goal that any striker in the world would have been proud of, as he exchanged passes with Emmanuel Eboue before sending the ball into the top corner from the edge of the area.

Eduardo struck another nail in the Latics’ coffin around the hour mark, and Cesc Fabregas added to the score line during stoppage time to make it 4-0 to the north London club.

As the referee blew the whistle to signal full time, there was a resounding cheer from the fans, as the Gunners had cruised to victory against their opponents.
