West Ham United 2-3 Liverpool Highlights: Torres Brace Saves Liverpool Face

Fernando Torres

Fans at Upton Park were treated to a five-goal thriller, when West Ham United hosted Liverpool in the Premier League.

Fernando Torres caught the goalkeeper off guard and sent one home in the 19th minute, but Alessandro Diamanti levelled the terms ten minutes later.

However, the Merseyside club took the lead again, when Yossi Benayoun sent in a corner that Steven Gerrard flicked onto Dirk Kuyt, who poked at it and sent it into the back of the net. But this lead was short-lived, as the Hammers drew level yet again, after Carlton Cole headed the ball in from a Mark Noble corner.

The frantic pace of the game continued as the teams emerged from the tunnel. The Irons were playing well, but were lacking in the final ball each time, while Rafael Benitez’s charges were making inroads in the West Ham defence.

The Rafalution hit home a third with 15 minutes to go, when Torres scored his second through a header from eight yards.

Liverpool managed to hang on to the slender lead and emerged with a well deserved three points away from home.
