A spirited display at home by Wolverhampton Wanderers gave them a 2-1 win against Fulham. This marked a first win at home for the Premier League debutants. Irish striker Kevin Doyle set the ball rolling as he scored in the first half to put the Wolves in front. Michael Mancienne’s foul allowed Murphy to score the second for Wolves soon into the second half. Fulham tried to make inroads as Dave Edwards scored on Andy Keogh’s pass. But one goal wasn’t going to be enough as the hosts held on to the massive cheering and won their first home game this season.

While Wolves didn’t have it that easy against their opponents, Everton did have a good game as they also won at home against the Rovers. Louis Saha scored twice as Blackburn Rovers lost 3-0. The lead by Saha came through a side-footed shot past the goalie. It was Saha again in the start of the second half as he headed a Marouane Fellaini cross in to the net. Joseph Yobo then netted the third goal of the match giving Everton a formidable lead against the clueless Rovers.
