Manchester United Survives a Scare against Sunderland
Manchester United continued to get results in the final moments of the game, as they overcame an inspired Sunderland unit to end the game 2-2 at Old Trafford.
After a flawless game for Anton Ferdinand, the Black Cat Man was involved in an own goal when he deflected Patrice Evra’s off-target shot into his own net.
Similar to the midweek experience against Wolfsburg, Red Devils were on the backfoot very early-on in the game when Former Tottenham Striker, Darren Bent, scored for the away side in the seventh minute of the game.
Sunderland’s goalie, Craig Gordon had almost nothing to save at all in the first half of the game, which was odd for a touring keeper at the Theater of Dreams.
However, things evened out in the second half, when John O’Shea’s curling pass was met by Dimitar Berbatov’s Overhead kick in the 51st minute of the game.
There was another twist in the tale left when Kenwyne Jones scored on an empty net after what seemed a foul on Ben Foster by the Sunderland Striker.
It seemed all but over for Manchester United, who was staring at a defeat from a Sunderland outfit yet to win a game at Old Trafford for 40 years. However, inevitable happened 2 minutes into the injury time when Ferdinand scored the own goal.
