Stoke end Everton’s winning spree

Stoke City ended Everton’s winning spree as they held them 1-1 at Goodison Park Stadium in their Premier League match. The in form hosts had won their last five games but had to be happy with a tame draw here.

The determined Stoke side was the first to score through Robert Huth when he beat Tim Cahill to the post in the 50th minute. Five minutes later, Leon Osman leveled for the home side as he sent a curling shot from 25 yards. Everton had most of the ball possession in the second half but could do nothing in front of a superb Stoke defense. After the equaliser for a few minutes, it seemed that Everton would hit top gear now and a goal frenzy would follow. But both teams had to settle for one point each.

Another draw but a more interesting one at that was witnessed at Upton Park. West Ham and Fulham played out a 2-2 spirited draw. The hosts were the first to get the goal lead as Carlton Cole scored through Alessandro Diamanti’s free kick. Fulham’s Kagisho Dikgacoi got the red and was sent off for an off the ball incident.

West Ham managed to hold on to their lead till half time. But Danny Murphy’s penalty got Fulham at level with the hosts. In the 57th minute, West Ham again took the lead as Zolton Gera scored from close range. It seemed like West Ham would run away with the victory but Fulham pulled off an injury time goal through a Junior Stanislas deflection. In the end, it was kudos to the 10 man Fulham side for maintaining their cool and managing to split points.
