Red Devils Move to the Top of the League with 2-1 Win Over Bolton
Following a 2-2 draw last week against Sunderland and a loss for Chelsea earlier in the day, the pressure was on Manchester United to perform well. And this is what they exactly did with a clinical performance against Bolton Wanderers at the Old Trafford.
Even though the 2-1 score line had an own goal from Zak Knight, who was unable to control a Michael Owen header and deflected the ball into his own net, the game was always going where the Red Devils wanted it to.
Bolton did stage a comeback late in the second half with a header from Matt Taylor off a great pass from Keith Davies, who was the only player causing problems to the home side’s defense. However, it was too late for the away side to secure a point.
In fact if it wasn’t for Jussi Jaaskelainen, the result would have been far worse for Bolton, as he warded up a number of shots from Evans, Berbatov, Owen and Giggs.
With this win, Manchester United moved to the top of the league and is in the right flow before a tough week ahead where they will meet CSKA Moscow (Champions League) and Liverpool (Premier League) in away matches.
