Super Saturday sees big four playing


premier-league-logoIt was a Super Saturday treat for Premier League fans as all the top names in the game came out to the fields. Chelsea went to Bolton and won 5-0 in an emphatic show of their reign at the top. Lampard got the proceedings going through a freekick in the fag end of the first half and from then on a goal frenzy started with Drogba, Deco, Knight and Ivanovic scoring. Their arch rivals and Defenders Manchester United hosted the Rovers and gave them a 2-0 bashing. In what started off as a 50-50 encounter saw Blackburn fight it out with chances and keeping United at bay. In the second half, Berbatov and Rooney scored to give them the much needed 3 points.

A surprise defeat was dealt to Liverpool at the hands of Fulham. The hosts defeated Liverpool 3-1 in a fighting encounter. The match was 1-1 till half time but the second half Fulham written all over it as Nevland and Dempsey struck the decisive goals. Arsenal came out thumping in their match against Tottenham and defeated them 3-0. Van Persie was the star as he struck twice while the third goal was scored by Fabregas. The Spurs look out of form and fell to fifth position in the league table after this match.

Hull got another beating, this time from newcomers Burnley. A match that saw many yellow cards and Geovanni being sent off had Burnley wining 2-0 at home. Alexander was the man who scored both times, once in the 20th minute and then in the 77th. Another match that had too much happening in terms of rowdiness on the field was played out between Everton and Aston Villa. Villa held the hosts for a 1-1 draw as both sides had one player knocked off in the fag end. Portsmouth played out a 4-0 defeat of Wigan Athletic at home as the latter failed to impress yet again. Dindanne had a hatrick of goals while Piquionne also got amongst the scoring.

Stoke held the Wolves to a 2-2 hard fought draw. West Ham are still on a disappointing row as they had to settle for a draw with Sunderland 2-2. While Sunderland were reduced to 10 in the end of the first half, West Ham also lost Kovac in the end of the match.
