Essien stars in Chelsea win

Chelsea defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-0 to take an unprecedented five point lead in the Premier League. High on their last weeks win against Holders Manchester United, The blues crushed the newcomers in a one sided encounter at Stamford Bridge last night.

Florent Malouda got the proceedings started for Chelsea in the 5th minute when he found one from outside the box and scored to the left corner of the post. Then a 12th minute header from Michael Essien from inside the six yard line put Chelsea 2-0 ahead. A pass from Kalou to the alert Essien gave Chelsea a 3-0 lead. The last goal was scored in the 55th minute after which the blues continued their defensive strike, knowing the match was theirs. Joe Cole was the final scorer for a shot in the top left corner of the goal post.

This was Chelsea’s 10th straight win at Stamford Bridge who now have an excellent record of a 33 points from a possible 39 points. The Blues though playing without their star international players in Didier Drogba, Frank Lampard, Deco, Ballack and Carvalho were still as formidable as they have been in this season.
