Sunderland serve Arsenal a shocker

Sunderland became the only team this Premier League season to defeat Arsenal as they won a home match 1-0 last night. Darren Bent was the only scorer of the match while Steed Malbranque had two real chances. The finishing wasn’t accurate else Arsenal would have seen themselves in deeper trouble.

Bent’s goal was scored through a rebound as his header came back to him only through Frazier Campbell. Arsenal would consider this goal as an unlucky one for them. But Sunderland have performed well in their few matches and deserved the win. This win ended the 14 match winning streak of Arsenal and they dropped to third spot in the table. They would have hated to see leaders on the board, Chelsea and second spot holders United win.

The Gunners were playing without Robin Van Persie and surely missed his absence. Eduardo lead the charge in Van Persie’s absence and created few early chances but the defences of Sunderland were up.
