Flurry of Goals at White Hart Lane

Spurs have pulled the biggest Barclay’s Premier League victory where they beat Wigan Athletic 9-1 and remain fourth at the Premier League table. Jermaine Defoe scored five times in the second half in a mesmerizing spell of football. Tottenham scored as early as the ninth minute of the match through Peter Crouch’s header and it was 1-0 at half time. Defoe scored the second goal of the match and his first in the 51st minute and completed his hat trick in no time after that.

Within the 60th minute Defoe completed is hat trick and Tottenham were 4-0 up in the match. Defoe scored again in the 69th minute and his final goal came within a few minutes from time. Meanwhile, England winger, Aaron Lennon netted a goal in the 64th minute and Wigan keeper Chris Kirkland contributed one himself which came off the rebound from a David Bentley shot. Niko Kranjcar was the last to score and complete the tally of 9 goals.

Wigan replied back through a controversial Paul Scharner goal in the 57th minute but it was a history created by Tottenham in 32 years of their club winning record. Tottenham are now level on points with Arsenal but remain at the fourth spot falling just short of goal difference.
