Bayern Munich humble Juventus to secure a place in the last 32
A great footballing display by Bayern Munich against Juventus ensured them a place in the last 32 of the Champions League. In a match played last night at Juventus, the latter were outclassed 1-4 by the visiting German side. David Trezeguet scored for Juventus first to give the visitors the jitters who were in a must win situation. Olic remained the livewire on the ground as always and was instrumental in creating many chances. But it was keeper Butt who scored only the third goal of his life to equalize for his team. Then on, it was only about Munich as goals kept pouring in.
Ivica Olic scored from close range to take the goal he deserved throughout the match. Mario Gomez helped the visitors reach 1-3 and a late strike by substitute Anatoliy Tymoschuk sealed the fate of the match 1-4. With this win, Bayern finished second in Group A behind Bordeaux and qualified for the next round. The toppers also won their last match against Maccabi Haifa 1-0 who finished last with no points.
Group B saw Manchester United defeat Wolfsburg 1-3. It was Michael Owen all the way in this match as he had a brilliant hatrick. His first came in the 44th minute after which Dzeko equalised in the 56th minute. Two late strikes in the 83rd and in the 90th minute gave Man United the win they deserved. With this win over the German champions, Man United topped Group B.
