Ronaldo leads Real Madrid to next stage

Ronaldo’s two goals meant Real Madrid qualified for the last 32 stage in their match against Marseille. They stay group winners as AC Milan followed them close behind. Real won 1-3 as Ronaldo scored in the fifth minute through a free kick. Lucho Gonzalez scored six minutes later from close range after which Raul gave the visitors a 1-2 lead. In a must win situation, Marseille couldn’t deliver the goods as Ronaldo outclassed them again when keeper Steve Machanda faultered. AC Milan had to settle for a draw with FC Zurich who finished at fourth place.

In Group C, Chelsea drew 2-2 with Apoel FC. This group was already settled for top two spots with Chelsea and Porto going through. Third place and Europa cup qualification was taken by Atheltico Madrid who suffered a disappointing home defeat at the hands of Porto 0-3. Apoel needed a win to come third but couldn’t get the better off the leaders.

In Group E, F, G and H, matches will happen tonight and some of the most awaited encounters will feature Liverpool and Fiorentina, Barcelona and Dynamo Kiev and Olympiakos and Arsenal.
