Sacking Rafa not the solution: Torres

Fernando Torres revealed after some soul searching that sacking Rafael Benitez wouldn’t end Liverpool’s current woes. Speaking out over the string of losses that Liverpool has seen in the Premier League and the Champions League, the Spanish star added that it was the players who needed to pull up their act to end the problems.

Following Liverpool’s crashing out of the Champions League and a poor eighth spot showing in the Premier League, Torres, the main stay of the Reds team said that sacking the manager is not an apt solution. Torres spoke after collecting an award for being elected to the FIFA Team of the year. Torres and Rafa, both signed a long term agreement at the start of this season and would stay on till 2014 in a best case scenario.

Liverpool has found it difficult to strike form this season with their last 3 wins coming from 12 matches. Their financial strength has also been under doubt after owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks reportedly looking for newer investments. While Liverpool seem to be all about Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard, Torres indirectly suggested that Liverpool might need to strengthen their squad with newer players.

He further added that the financial difficulty added to the confusion of not being able to add players and that further made them helpless in this current situation. But like all good teams , he said they will snap out of it as a team soon.
