Emile Heskey, Kenwyne Jones to spruce up ailing Liverpool?
Last week Fernando Torres urged his Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez to make some quality buys during next months transfer window to spur their ailing team. Seems, Rafa took a cue and his wish list for the New Year includes Emile Heskey, Kenwyne Jones and Roque Santa Cruz.
Liverpool will be bringing in two new players as the transfer window opens on January 1st and the emphasis will be to bring in a classy forward. Currently, Fernando Torres doesn’t have able company and his team depends heavily on him. Another re-inforcement Rafa is looking at is Spaniard Juan Manuel Mata. But Heskey seems to be the main target here with the need for a striker being pressed time and again.
Liverpool might have to pull strings to persuade Aston Villa, Heskey’s current team and their boss Martin O’Neill to send him to Anfield and not to Stamford Bridge. Chelsea are looking to bring Heskey in while Didier Drogba goes away on International duty.
Santa Cruz and Mata both have upped their prices and are asking for £20 Million for the transfer. While Kenwyne Jones falls under the Liverpool price range, his buy will be easier as well with Jones having tsrained relations with his current boss, Steve Bruce. Stoke is also after Jones but he would see brighter chances at Anfield.
Rafa is looking to sell atleast 4 of his current players to arrange for the funds to buy new strikers. Selling players like Ryan Babel, Andrea Dossena, Andriy Voronin and Philipp Degen might fetch him anything around the £15 Million mark which should be enough to make the buys.
Another big transfer news could be the sell out of Argentinian Sergio Aguero who will be fancied by Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United. The price tag will be around £40 Million and Chelsea have been in the forefront as chasers. But Roman Abramovich is not keen on paying that big an amount as it might lead to player unrest in the team. Megabucks City are also seeking the player and he might be headed their way if Robinho or Bellamy exit the team. United are still on the wait and watch mode to decide the right player.
