Togo will play in the Africa Cup of Nations

Togo’s football team will play in the Africa Cup of Nations, it was announced even after the government withdrew the participation after a deadly attack on Friday. New agencies stated that the team had decided to stay back in Angola in memory of those who had died and didn’t want to run off like cowards.

Earlier on Friday, a bus carrying the Togo Football team to the Africa Cup of Nations in Angola. The driver and two other people were killed and three players were injured in the attack. Rebels who have been fighting for the regions independence claimed responsibility for the horryfing act.

Following this incident, the government of Togo had declared that the Togo football team will not be taking part in the football cup and will be returning soon. but the decision was reverted by the football team and the management themselves after they decided to stay back and play for the deceased members. The decision was taken unanimously by the team members as they didn’t want to be cowards and show their team spirit and colors.

The Togo team’s captain is Emmanuel Adebayor who is also a player of the Premier League club Manchester City. The club site stated that the striker was returning to United Kingdom after escaping unhurt in thw ambush. Following the attack, Angola has increased security at all venues and for every team.
