Marouane Chamakh to join Liverpool?
In the latest buzz that could go about bringing about a huge morale boost to the Liverpool side is that Marouane Chamakh has agreed to join the club. Reports suggest that the £25million deal will beat fellow bidders Inter Milan, Juventus, Arsenal and West Ham high and dry.
The Reds are expecting the 25 year old striker to sign before the end of January. The young Bordeaux player would have ended his contract at the end of the season and was keen to move to England. While Arsenal were trying to lure the Morroccon to join during the current transfer window, Chamakh wanted to join at the end of the season thus pushing his prize up. But sources reveal that Anfield has a pre-contract agreement and have managed to give him a deal that he is willing to join.
If he moves, it will mean he gets a £12million signing fee and a £60,000a week salary. This news makes Liverpool’s intent of getting in newer and younger players very clear to ease the pressure off Torres and Gerrard. The hugely popular player has been a most sought after commodity in the footballing circles since he declared his willingness to join a new club.
It waits to be seen if Liverpool is able to conjure up the funds to get Chamakh to Anfield.
