Latest transfer rumours: As the window closes
The transfer window closes on February 1st, 2010 and rumours are totally doing the rounds. While some rumours like the Ruud Van Nistelrooy move and the high profile Wayne Rooney transfer to Real Madrid have been put to rest, there have been newer ones.
The Spurs already seem set to lose David Bentley and Jamie O Hara and the name of Robbie Keane is also in the list now. Keane had only come back from Liverpool 2 months back and reportedly, Harry Redknapp is striking a £9million deal for him. Sunderland us keen on Robbie and made their offer on Friday. Steve Bruce wants to Keane and Darren Bent duo to work again. But nothing is gained without losing something. And the Black cats might have to get Keane at the cost of Kenwyne Jones. Liverpool have shown interest in him and the move might be triggered if Keane makes way to Sunderland.
If Anfield gets something, their might be Yossi Benayoun’s departure for them. His £7million move to Dynamo Moscow was stalled but he is now looking for a summer transfer. The midfielder is currently recovering from a broken rib but has also had a strained relationship with manager, Rafael Benitez.
Arsene Wenger has upped his attempts to acquiring Marouame Chamakh as he is now amongst the money with almost £30m at his disposal. The Bordeaux striker has been on the wish list of most English top teams but Arsenal is also interested in Valencia’s David Villa to Emirates Stadium.
Manchester United are also looking to offload Michael Owen who had come in as a free transfer but has failed to impress Alex Fergusson. The club has admitted that they will not stop Owen from leaving if he finds a club interested in him.
As the window closes, there haven’t been too many high profile transfers. But there are still few hours to go and who knows what this controversial window makes us see.
