Robbie Keane heads to Celtic on loan
As the transfer window closed last night, formalities for Robbie Keane to go to Celtic on loan were completed. There were rumours about him leaving Tottenham and finally the wee hours of the transfer window confirmed this.
The 29 year old had just come back months ago from Liverpool to White Hart Lane but had been sitting out under Harry Redknapp. He yesterday traveled to Glasgow to hold talks about his loan move and finally declared it this morning.
Keane is a keen Celtic fan and has had 25 showings with the Spurs this season but off late has warmed the bench a little too often. He had been confined to being a substitute and he wanted to be a player who can start. With a fantastic scoring record, Keane has always made his desire to play for Celtic vocal.
Keane had joined the SPurs in 2002 and before that has played for the Wolves, Coventry, Inter Milan and Leeds. He had a loan move to Liverpool in July 2008 but rejoined after only 15 matches in February 2009.
Other last minute deals included Australia international Scott McDonald’s £3.5m transfer to Middlesbrough. the latter lost Adam Johnson to MAnchester City in a five year contract. The winger will wear the Number 11 shirt and play immediately with the Hull match coming up soon.
