Chelsea lose advantage, held by Hull City 1-1
Chelsea played out a 1-1 draw with Hull City in a lackluster performance from the leaders of the Premier League table. The Blues would have maintained a good 4 point lead over second placed United by winning over the struggling Hull. But the draw that saw Hull put up a soulful performance doesn’t do Chelsea’s cause any good.
Hull’s attempt was brave and they took the initiative to the hosts by opening the scoring. Steven Mouyokolo headed home in the 30th minute. Didier Drogba, returning from International duty equalised through a free kick but couldn’t do anything in the second half.
There were other efforts in the first half by Chelsea that should have been scored but at the end, the laurels belonged to the hosts for holding the front runners for the title. Chelsea next play Arsenal and will have to do a world of change in their game plan if they hope to defeat the third place Gunners.
In the meanwhile, it has been rumoured that John Terry might be taking a leave from the FA Cup matches to settle his personal matters. Carlo Ancelotti has expressed his approval over letting the Chelsea Captain take some time off to get his life under control.
Fulham and Portsmouth will be playing tonight and both are not high on confidence. Crisis ridden Portsmouth would be willing to settle for a draw as well while Fulham who haven’t been in the best of forms will aim for the win. Pompey are low in the relegation zone and still battling financial troubles. Fulham at home would be s threat for Avram Grant’s boys.
The last transfer signing was also finished late last night as Benjani completed his move to Sunderland. The Manchester City striker is going to be on loan till the end of the season.
